First adventure of 2020 is just a night away in Chester. Camping in our little ‘Cookie’ motorhome.
Found a cool bar called ‘The Cavern of the Curious Gnome.’ You have to walk through a cafe/winebar to find it, but what a find. Plenty beers on tap and cask and a whole book of bottled beers including many Belgium beers which we love. Just trying a couple here before we move on. Delirium Tremens @ 7.4% followed by Fierce – very big moose imperial stout @12%. Next stop The Brewery Tap’.
So here we are at The Brewery Tap. Its Spitting Feathers brewry tap so thought we best start with Spitting Feathers Beer. So Old Waverton Stout and Brainstorm it is. Such a lovely old building with so much history. Great calming atmosphere and good beer. A bit cheaper than the last place but more normal beers.
Decided we best go for food so we went to the Thai. We ordered food and some thai crackers while we waited. The crackers were a bit soft and not crispy and the sweet chilli sauce was just sugar sauce. the staeters came, prawn in a basket, well battered prawns in a soggy basket and pork toasties, well they were ok. Next to come the main meals, lamb massaman curry amd Thai green chicken curry. Well I must say this was not the best Thai I have ever had, but it could be the worst. Not a patch on Thai Paragon in Cultcheth. Safe to say we will not be back as really not worth the money.
Final stop before our walk home to ‘Cookie’ is the ‘Goat and Munch’. Nice little bar with good selection of real ales.
